Biography of Christian Neel
Christian Neel: An Artist Between Dream and Reality
Born in Cannes on 15 August 1960, Christian Neel is a contemporary French painter who has made a name for himself through his unique style, blending lyrical abstraction with figurative influences. From a very young age, art was a natural part of his life: at the age of 7, he began drawing, and at 12, he received his first easel, a memorable gift from his father.
His promising talent was quickly spotted by his art teacher, Mr Berton, who encouraged him to nurture his passion for painting. This impetus led him to the École des Arts Décoratifs in Nice, where he honed his technique whilst nurturing his desire to break free from the classical conventions of painting. Very quickly, Christian Neel forged his own artistic language, halfway between reality and the imagination.
A Signature Inspired by the Côte d’Azur
Deeply influenced by the light and vibrant colours of the Côte d’Azur, the artist draws on his subconscious to capture inner visions, memorable encounters and fragments of life on his canvases. His painting, described as lyrical abstraction, is characterised by a harmonious combination of shapes and colours, where dreams interact with reality.
